A clinical corelation study of dengue fever with hepatic dysfunction in children and their outcome

Background: The study was hepatic dysfunction in childhood dengue infection and to clinical co-relation like severity, features, outcome.Methods: Dengue sero positive patients of 100 were admitted during the period examined for hepatomegaly jaundice subjected complete blood count, liver function tests, ultrasound abdomen, PT, APTT, HBsAg, HCV, Widal analysed.Results: All presented with fever, most commonly occurred age group 5 7 years, commonest sign seen, thrombocytopenia seen 88% cases, serum total bilirubin raised 10% subjects severe infection. Serum SGOT 74 % dengue. When compared between groups, rise 74% probable dengue, 98% warning signs 100% SGPT 58% 42% 66% 81% 28% 9.5% 32% 82% Prothrombin time 11% patients. PT 6.4% 72% APTT groups fall protein 12.7% 54.5% 2 cases expired, which enzyme levels highly elevated.Conclusions: Significant enzymes helps recognition forms As is transient reversible, early identification same should help reduce life threatening complications. This can morbidity mortality due infection.al population.
